Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Registered Nurse (Clinical Nurse II) for the Preop/PACU team. This full-time, night shift role cares for extended recovery post-surgical patients in a Level I trauma academic medical center. The unit emphasizes a fast-paced environment with advanced surgical services.

Requires NC RN license, BLS, and at least 1 year nursing experience, preferably Medical/Surgical. Schedule is 36 hours weekly, night shift, Wed–Fri, with no on-call requirement.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• If hired after Jan 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a BSN within seven years.
• Licensed RN in North Carolina.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify learning needs, attends programs, assesses readiness to learn for patient/family/caregivers.
• Evaluation of Care: identify outcomes, revise care plan with interdisciplinary team, promote continuity of care.
• Implementation: provide care for complex patients, perform bedside testing, follow policies and procedures.
• Leadership: develop goals with supervision, support unit goals and performance improvement." ,
• Patient Assessment: assess data to set care priorities, plan discharge needs and build family relationships.
• Planning: collaborate with patient/family to update care plan, utilize multidisciplinary resources.
• Research: read journals and discuss applicability with staff.
