Job summary

Avera Queen of Peace Hospital is hiring a Surgical Technologist to support the OR team. You will assist the surgeon, prepare instruments, and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.

The role requires completing a Surgical Technologist program and achieving CST/TS-C certification upon hire. Expect day-to-day work in OR and SPD areas with on-call obligations and a strong emphasis on patient safety.

Qualifications

• Must be a Technical Certificate graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Tech (CST) or equivalent upon hire.
• Experience or training in operating room procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon within scope of competency and standards; maintain sterile environment.
• Rotate in SPD area cleaning and sterilizing OR instruments; maintain cleanliness.
• Update preference cards for surgeon requests.
• Comply with regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
• Verify patient identity, operative procedure, site, surgeon and consent.
• Apply aseptic technique throughout intraoperative period.
• Perform sponge, needle and instrument counts.
