Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist at Avera St Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD for a day shift. This role supports the surgeon and sterile processing teams in the operating room, ensuring aseptic technique and instrument readiness.

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
• CST certification upon hire or TS-C certification upon hire.
• Preferred 1–3 years surgical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within scope of competency and standards of practice.
• Rotates in SPD area cleaning and sterilizing instruments for OR, floors, ER, and clinics.
• Updates preference cards to ensure team members can perform procedures as per surgeon requests.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies and standards of practice.
• Verifies patient identity, operative procedure, site, surgeon and consent.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout intraoperative period.
• Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts per policy.
• Evaluates new supplies, equipment and/or instruments.
• Sets up operating room with equipment and supplies as instructed.
