Job summary

Avera is seeking a surgical technologist to join the team at St Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. You will support surgeons in the operating room, maintain sterile technique, and prepare instruments and supplies for procedures.

The role requires CST/TS-C credentials upon hire, or active eligibility, and a Technical Certificate in Surgical Technology. 1–3 years of surgical experience is preferred. PTO, retirement matching, and mentorship are offered.

Qualifications

• Technical certificate in surgical technology is required.
• CST or TS-C certification upon hire is preferred.
• 1–3 years of surgical tech experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within scope of competency and standards of practice; maintains infection control and universal precautions.
• Washes and sterilizes equipment; keeps operating room clean.
• Rotates in SPD area for instrument sterilization for OR, ER, and clinics as needed.
• Verifies patient identity, operative procedure, site, surgeon, and consent.
• Maintains aseptic technique during intraoperative period; performs counts per policy.
