Job summary

Ochsner Health seeks a Surgical Tech to support surgical procedures, equipment, and supplies, reporting to the RN and department leadership. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and graduation from a recognized Surgical Technology program, with BLS mandatory and optional certification in Surgical Technology.

Experience in a medical setting is preferred; strong anatomical knowledge and sterile technique are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; graduate from an accepted Surgical Technology program.
• Preferred: one year experience in a similar medical setting; basic analytical skills.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Surgical Technology certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule.
• Care for patients under nurse supervision.
• Communicates patient care needs to patients, families, and coworkers.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to changes in department due to census or acuity.
