Job summary

Ochsner Health in Louisiana is seeking a Surgical Technologist to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures. You will scrub for procedures and assist with endoscopy, under RN supervision.

Must meet education, experience, and BLS certification requirements and be flexible with shifts. Responsibilities include patient care, preparing supplies, maintaining credentials, and adapting to changing department needs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program OR 5 years of Surgical Technologist Experience.
• BLS certification required; certification in surgical technology preferred.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call).

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule and daily needs of the department.
• Competently cares for and provides services to patients with supervision of the staff nurse.
• Communicates information pertaining to patient care needs to patients, family members and co-workers.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to rapid changes in the department caused by unit census, patient acuity and resource availability.
• Performs other related duties as required.
