Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in procedures, prepare and maintain equipment, and support physicians and nurses in the operating room.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and a surgical technology certificate; BLS certification is required. Preferred are 1 year of relevant experience and strong organizational/time-management skills with attention to compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and surgical technology certification.
• No work experience required.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in a similar medical setting.
• Certification in Surgical Technology and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties, including assisting physicians during procedures.
• Assists in the day-to-day operations of the department.
• Maintains required clinical knowledge, equipment, training, and credentials.
• Adapts to change in a positive constructive manner.
• Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endoscopes while maintaining quality control measures.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
