Job summary

Ochsner LSU Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to ensure availability of equipment and supplies for endoscopy and surgical procedures, and to scrub and assist during endoscopy procedures under RN supervision. Responsibilities include patient care, coordination of supplies, and maintaining credentials.

Must have accredited surgical technologist training or 5 years of experience, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Expertise in sterile and aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and surgery procedures.
• Proficiency in using computers and clinical software/web tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across care teams.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including 24/7 coverage.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care duties.
• Organizes activities and supplies based on surgery schedule.
• Cares for patients under supervision of staff nurse.
• Communicates patient care information to family and co-workers.
• Maintains clinical knowledge, skills, training and credentials.
• Adapts to changes in department workload and census.
• Performs additional related duties as required.
