Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate safe surgical procedures at UAB St Vincent's St. Clair.

You will prepare the operating suite, hand instruments to the surgeon, assist with patient positioning, and help maintain instrument counts throughout procedures. Requirements include a surgical technologist program with clinical components or substantial related experience, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• High school diploma equivalency with surgical technologist program OR 4 years of cumulative job-specific experience.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
