Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate safe and efficient surgical procedures. You will prepare the operating suite, pass instruments, and assist with patient positioning under the supervision of surgeons.

The role requires completion of a surgical technologist program or substantial experience, and BLS certification is preferred. Schedule is Monday–Friday 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM with rotating call; benefits available for eligible positions.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred.
• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
