Job summary

Surgery Partners is seeking a PRN Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses. This role requires preparing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include setting up the OR, helping with pre-op preparations, transporting patients, and assisting the surgical team with instruments and specimen handling. CPR cert and 0–2 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification preferred but not required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical tech program; or equivalent training.
• Must be certified to perform CPR.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
• Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up instruments, drapes, and sterile solutions.
• Tends to patient during pre-operation procedures.
• Performs pre-operation skin prep and equipment prep.
• Assembles sterile and non-sterile equipment and checks it is functioning.
• Gets patients ready for surgery and disinfects incision sites.
• Transports patients to the OR and assists with positioning and draping.
• Monitors vital signs and assists with gowns and gloves.
• Passes instruments to surgeons and assistants.
• Counts sponges, needles, and supplies; helps dispose of specimens.
• Operates sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and related equipment.
• After surgery, transfers patients to recovery and restocks the OR.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
