Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare offers a surgical technologist role supporting the OR team in Fredericksburg, VA. You will assist nursing staff by communicating changes in patient status and preparing operating rooms with the necessary equipment.

You’ll work closely with the care team to ensure aseptic technique, instrument readiness, and smooth turnover between cases while contributing to infection control and quality improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Graduate of OR tech program or surgical scrub tech or surgical technology.
• LPN with OR experience may apply.
• Must become CST within 6 months of hire.
• Virginia Board of Medicine registration as Surgical Technologist required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with care team to achieve patient outcomes per physician cards and standards.
• Communicates safe therapeutic care during perioperative experience.
• Maintains and prepares OR rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies; follows aseptic technique.
• Drapes patients and assists the surgical team during procedures.
• Assists in turnover of room between cases.
• Provides input for changes to physician preference cards as requested by surgeon.
• Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
• Participates in infection control and quality improvement programs.
• Demonstrates effective communication, customer service and teamwork.
• Accepts responsibility for professional growth and performs other duties as assigned.
