Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Madison is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the Operating Room under RN supervision. You will set up the OR, gather X-rays, instruments, and supplies for procedures, and assist with aseptic technique.

Full-time schedule includes variable shifts and on-call requirements. Candidates must complete an accredited surgical tech program; a high school diploma or GED is required. BLS HCP certification is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical tech program is required.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Practices and implements the technical components of patient care under the supervision of a RN.
• Collaborates with the RN and other healthcare professionals to implement a plan of care.
• Prepares equipment, supplies and resources based on an individualized plan of care.
• Communicates accurate and timely information to the Registered Nurse regarding patients.
• Operates all surgical equipment and instruments with proper aseptic technique.
• Documents quality controls according to unit standards.
• Maintains an organized work environment and prioritizes tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
