Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis is seeking a Surgical Support Technician to assist in the Operating Room under RN direction. You will set up the room, gather instruments, and prepare supplies for procedures while communicating patient information to the RN.

The role emphasizes aseptic technique, instrument handling, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient procedures and patient care. Evening shifts and regular hours are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or nursing education/licensing as required.
• Experience in operating room or surgical tech programs preferred.
• BLS certification required (AHA).

Responsibilities

• Practices and implements technical components of patient care under RN supervision.
• Collaborates with RN and other professionals to implement a care plan.
• Prepares equipment, supplies and resources per individualized plan.
• Communicates patient information to the Registered Nurse.
• Maintains aseptic technique and handles instruments properly.
• Documents quality controls per unit standards.
