Job summary

SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is seeking an operating room technician to promote patient safety as part of the surgical team. You will assist with operative procedures and patient care following department policies and procedures.

The role requires a technical OR program graduate and approximately one year of experience in a surgical setting, with BLS HCP certification; CST/NBSTSA credentials are highly regarded. The position involves day shifts and regular employee status.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a technical program for operating room technicians.
• One year experience in a surgical setting.
• Current BLS HCP certification.
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred; NBSTSA credentialing commonly expected.

Responsibilities

• Assists department leader with delegation of assignments, scheduling and staff training.
• Provides feedback during performance reviews.
• Ensures surgery preference cards are completed accurately.
• Anticipates routine patient care needs based on surgical cases.
• Assists surgical cases by running the table and assisting the surgeon.
• Maintains organized work environment and equipment care.
• Demonstrates prioritization and basic problem-solving under pressure.
• Operates and maintains instrumentation and equipment for routine surgery.
• Provides orientation and training to team members as required.
• Upholds safety standards and life safety in the OR.
