Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide service before, during, and after procedures in the operating room.

Role emphasizes ensuring proper setup of instruments, assisting the surgeon, and aiding turnover while maintaining sterile technique and compliance with regulations. Both part-time and full-time positions with comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) within four months of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to resource advanced technology.
• 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate surgeon needs.
• Knowledge of names and functions of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Assists in ensuring proper setup and arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room before each operation.
• Assists the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Assists in turnover of the operating room after procedures, routing and processing specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
• Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other personnel.
