Job summary

Illinois Bone & Joint Institute, LLC is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide patient care activities and maintain the operating room under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes assisting with anesthesia intraoperatively, preparing the surgical site, and ensuring sterile technique.

The position requires 1–2 years related experience or training, with strong prioritization and communication skills to collaborate with the nursing team and surgeons.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledgeable of Principles of Aseptic Technique
• Ability to correlate clinical data with patient's medical and nursing care
• Ability to set priorities
• Ability to provide direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency
• Ability to communicate well with patients, families, co-workers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
• Participates in the nursing process in all aspects of patient care and completion of activities according to policy, procedure and protocol.
• Maintains strict sterile technique.
• Gathers supplies, x-rays and instruments/equipment for cases and handles instruments appropriately.
• Assists with anesthesia intraoperatively.
• Carefully preps surgical site and assists in proper patient positioning.
