Job summary

A healthcare staffing company in South Bend, IN, is seeking detail-oriented Surgical Technologists for a full-time role. The Surgical Technologist will ensure the operating room is prepared for surgery, assist surgeons and nurses during procedures, and maintain a sterile environment. Candidates should have a degree from an accredited surgical technology program and preferably hold a CST certification. Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred; certification through NBSTSA is highly desirable.
• 1-2 years of experience in a surgical setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
• Ensure all instruments and supplies are sterile and accessible.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments during procedures.
• Monitor and maintain a sterile field throughout the surgery.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery.
• Assist with patient preparation, including positioning before surgery.
• Handle specimens collected during surgery with care.
• Clean and restock the operating room for the next procedure.

Skills

Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterilization methods

Strong understanding of surgical instruments, procedures, and safety protocols

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions during emergencies

Education
