Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room under the surgeon's direction, performing tasks such as sponging, suctioning, cutting sutures, and retractors. This role emphasizes sterile technique, patient safety, and teamwork within a dynamic OR team.

Requirements include CST/CSA/TS-C certification and BLS, High School diploma with an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
• Certification: CST or CSA or TS-C and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room, equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Assist surgeon during procedures (orthopedics, gynecology, general, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, spine, neurology, oral/maxillofacial).
• Assist circulating RN with counts of sponges, instruments, and needles.
• Maintain sterile field and proper handling of instruments and supplies.
• Report observations and patient concerns to licensed personnel.
