Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment and instruments on back table and Mayo stand using sterile technique.
• Performs sponge, sharps, and other required counts with the circulating RN.
• Assists the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping and providing supplies and instruments during procedures.
• Cuts suture material, retracts tissue, and sponges tissue as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintains an organized sterile field with appropriate equipment and supplies throughout the procedure.
• Applies dressings at the completion of procedures, as appropriate.
