Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the perioperative team in Needham, MA. You will prepare the OR with instruments and supplies, assist the surgeon, and maintain strict aseptic technique throughout procedures.

The position requires vocational training in surgical technology or equivalent military/PHS training, certification, and BLS. The successful candidate will work as part of a cohesive team, with opportunities to handle a variety of cases across age groups.

Qualifications

• Vocational or Technical training in Surgical Technology or completed US Military/PHS training.
• Certified Surgical Technician required.
• BLS-AHA required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• 0–1 years related work experience required.
• Must maintain a certified surgical technologist credential or complete certification within 12 months of graduation.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a close-knit team.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepares OR with instrument, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedure.
• Assists surgeon and perioperative team during surgical procedures.
• Maintains sterile technique and aseptic setup.
• Handles specimens and medications on sterile field correctly.
• Maintains counts for sponges, sharps, and instruments as applicable.
• Cleans and cares for instruments per department guidelines; sterilization procedures applied.
