Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois is seeking a Surgical Scrub Technologist to support the operative team across procedures. You will maintain the sterile field, anticipate surgeon needs, and ensure high quality patient care during operations.

Responsibilities include prepping rooms, scrubbing, gowning, gloving, instrument passing, counts, and assisting with dressings. Mentorship of a surgical tech student may be part of the role under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or currently participating in accreditation process.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team before, during and after procedures to maintain sterile field and ensure quality patient care.
• Check instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for procedures.
• Scrub, gown, gloves, and set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, meds, and solutions.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping according to procedure and surgeon preference.
• Perform counts for sponges, needles, and instruments with circulator before incision and before closure.
• Gown and glove surgeon and assistants; maintain sterile technique throughout procedure.
• Pass instruments to surgeon and assist with dressings and wound care as directed.
• Assist in cleaning the operating room and prepping for the next patient.
• Participate in department performance improvement activities.
