Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. Under supervision, you will assist the Circulating Nurse, prepare supplies and equipment, and help ensure patient safety during invasive and non-invasive procedures.

The ideal candidate has completed a CAAHEP accredited program, 1-2 years of experience with certification preferred, and will obtain LCC-ST certification within one year if not already certified.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience and certification as a surgical technician preferred.
• Must obtain LCC-ST certification within 1 year of employment if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Assist Circulating Nurse to prepare supplies, instrumentation and equipment for the patient.
• Maintain safety and identify specimens.
• Collaborate to restock supplies in the room in a fiscally responsible way.
• Prepare operative site under RN direction; assist team; report status.
• Pursue ongoing growth; attend in-services; stay current with policies.
• Value teamwork and cooperation in the OR.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields; ensure asepsis; assist surgeon.
• Understand sterile technique principles and apply them in procedures.
