Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
• Certification as Surgical Technologist expected to be obtained if not already held.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program or equivalent as defined by the LCCST.
• Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique, asepsis, and human anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Assist Circulating Nurse by preparing supplies, instrumentation and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain safety awareness for patient and equipment; properly identify specimens.
• Collaborate with team to restock supplies in assigned room in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Prepare operative site for surgery under direction of a registered nurse; assist the surgical team as needed.
• Attend in-services, maintain certifications, and stay current with policies and procedures.
• Support teamwork, cooperation, and communication within the operating room.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields; ensure asepsis and assist surgeon and relief staff.
• Verify counts of sponges, needles, and instruments; inspect supplies and equipment for proper sterilization.
