Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks a surgical technologist to support the surgical team in a fast-paced environment. You will assist the circulating nurse, prepare sterile fields, and help ensure patient safety and asepsis throughout procedures.

Requirements include a CA AHEP accredited program, 1–2 years of experience, and the ability to obtain LCC-ST certification within 12 months. Strong teamwork and physical stamina are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
• 1-2 years of experience preferred.
• Must obtain LCC-ST certification within 1 year of employment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique and asepsis.

Responsibilities

• Assist Circulating Nurse to prepare supplies, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Maintain safety awareness for patient and equipment, identify specimens.
• Restock supplies in the assigned room in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Prepare operative site for surgery under RN direction and assist team.
• Pursue personal growth: attend in-services, maintain certification, review policies.
• Work as part of a team with respect and cooperation in the OR.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields; ensure asepsis and inventory checks.
• Apply sterile technique principles to all operative procedures.
