Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team. The role supports the circulating nurse, prepares sterile fields, and assists during invasive and non-invasive procedures.

Eligible candidates have 1–2 years of experience, completed a CAAHEP program, and must pursue LCC-ST certification within one year. The position requires standing most of the day, lifting up to 36 pounds, and a commitment to patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
• Experience: 1-2 years preferred and certification as a surgical technician.
• Must obtain LCC-ST certification within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist Circulating Nurse in preparing supplies and equipment for surgery.
• Maintain safety and accurately identify specimens during procedures.
• Restock supplies in assigned room in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Prepare operative site and assist the surgical team as needed; report status.
• Engage in ongoing personal growth, attend in-services and update policies.
• Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation in the operating room.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields; verify counts and inspect equipment.
• Apply sterile technique principles to every operative case.
