Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a surgical technologist to join our operating room team. The role involves assisting the Circulating Nurse, preparing supplies, and maintaining sterile technique to ensure patient safety during procedures.

A graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program is required, with 1-2 years of experience preferred and must obtain LCC-ST certification within one year. Strong teamwork, safety awareness, and knowledge of instrumentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience and certification as a surgical technician preferred.
• Licensure: must obtain LCC-ST certification within 1 year of employment if not already certified.
• Special Skills: demonstrated knowledge of sterile/aseptic technique and anatomy; teamwork in OR.

Responsabilités

• Contributing to the preparation of the surgery by assisting the Circulating Nurse with supplies, instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintaining safety awareness for patient and equipment; proper handling and identification of specimens.
• Collaborating with team to restock supplies in assigned room in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Preparing the operative site for surgery under the direction of a registered nurse and assisting team members as needed; report status to relief team.
• Demonstrating commitment to personal growth; attending in-services, maintaining certification, updating policies.
• Recognizing the importance of teamwork, consideration, and cooperation within the operating room.
• Preparing and maintaining sterile fields to assure quality patient care; ensure asepsis and assist surgeon.
• Identify principles of sterile technique and apply them in all procedures.
