Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team in diverse procedures including spine, vascular, and neuro cases. You will prepare the sterile field, assist the surgeon and circulating nurse, and maintain patient safety through strict aseptic technique and instrument counts.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience, graduation from an accredited surgical technology program, and will obtain LCC-ST certification within one year if not already

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent per LCCST definitions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of sterile/aseptic technique and human anatomy.
• Ability to work independently and with the surgical team.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to surgery preparation by assisting the Circulating Nurse with supplies, instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain safety and proper handling/identification of specimens.
• Collaborate to restock supplies in the operating room in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Prepare operative site and assist the team; relay procedure status to relief team.
• Commit to ongoing growth: attend in-services, maintain certifications, follow updated policies.
• Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation in the OR.
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields; ensure asepsis integrity and assist surgeon.
• Identify and apply sterile technique principles for each procedure.
