Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to assist surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room. You will help prepare the OR, set up sterile instruments, and pass supplies during procedures to support patient safety and efficient surgery.

The role requires a High School Diploma or Equivalent and BLS and CST licenses are preferred, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to infection control protocols

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No
• Licenses and Credentials: BLS, CST preferred; NBSTSA and other licenses as listed

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures.
• Set up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for the surgery.
• Transport patients to the operating room, help with positioning on the surgical table, and ensure their safety and comfort during the procedure.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures.
• Follow proper sterilization techniques to ensure cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, including counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments used.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team.
• Assist in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions.
• Secure and manage surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.
