WellSpan York Hospital is seeking an entry level Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room, preparing rooms, instruments and supplies for procedures, and assisting during operations. The role requires completion of a certificate program and appropriate licensure, with on-the-job training and safety compliance emphasized.

Schedule includes full‑time hours with rotating weekends and holidays, and potential rotation between hospital and ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

• Certificate program post high school vocational training is required.
• Less than 1 year relevant experience is required.
• 1 year relevant experience is preferred.
• BLS and CST/perioperative credentials or equivalent required at hire or within onboarding.

Responsabilités

• Prepares operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case.
• Prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning; monitors and restocks supplies.
• Drapes patients for surgical procedures.
• Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
• Maintains correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges.
• Prepares patient skin for surgery per hospital standards; maintains aseptic technique.
• Assists surgeons during operations by retracting tissues under direction.
• Identifies and cares for specimens.
• May rotate between hospital and ambulatory setting if assigned to Gettysburg Hospital or WellSpan Surgical Center.
