Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking Surgical Technologists who assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients across ages, under the direction of a professional nurse. The role spans OR and ambulatory settings with emphasis on sterile technique, instrument handling, and accurate counts.

Level I is for new graduates with up to 18 months; Level II advances with experience. BLS is required and certification or military training may be considered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or holds a NBSTSA/NCCT certification.
• BLS certification required for Level I & II.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile field and ensure a sterile environment.
• Prepare operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Perform correct and safe instrument passing and counts.
• Support preop and postop care in ambulatory and OR settings.
