Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, seeks a Surgical Technologist to support sterile technique and assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients from infancy to geriatric care. The role requires maintaining sterile fields and collaborating closely with surgeons and nursing staff.

Level I/II responsibilities include instrument preparation, case setup, and instrument counts, with on-call shifts and potential relocation support for eligible candidates. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or certified in the United States.
• Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA is required or demonstrated through military training.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and care of surgical patients under RN supervision.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure a sterile environment throughout procedures.
• Count instruments, sponges and needles accurately.
• Prepare operating room with proper instrumentation and supplies.
• Rotate shifts and take calls as needed; support ambulatory and OR settings.
