Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Texas seeks a capable Surgical Technologist to assist in pre-operative care and OR preparation. You will prepare skin, maintain aseptic technique, transport patients to the OR, and position them per procedure. You will scrub multiple specialty areas and support the surgeon with instruments.

The role requires a Surgical Technology program or LVN/LPN training, BLS, and strong teamwork. Multiple shifts, full-time, in the operating room setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• 2 or more years of experience preferred.
• BLS required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a professional nurse, performs all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior to and during any surgical procedure.
• Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments, and sutures to the physician, and assists as directed by the physician.
• Use the physician preference card when pulling cases and setting up the OR.
• Ensures preference cards are kept up to date and complete.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrates competency to monitor and control the surgical environment.
