Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in San Antonio, TX seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to assist in pre-operative care and prepare patients for surgery. You will scrub and assist in the OR, maintain aseptic technique, and transport patients as needed.

Under RN supervision, you will set up tables, instruments, and supplies for each case, ensure sterile fields, and support the surgical team with patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• 2 or more years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a professional nurse, performs all processes that relate to direct patient care and assistance care in the OR prior to and during any surgical procedure.
• Establishes and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments, and sutures to the physician, and assists as directed by the physician.
• Uses the physician preference card as a starting point when pulling cases and setting up the OR.
• Maintains a safe environment by always implementing technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
