Job summary

BARNES-JEWISH HOSPITAL is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the Perioperative Services team. The role involves preparing the operating room, assisting with sterile supplies, and supporting surgeons and staff during procedures.

You will perform surgical scrub duties, help collect cultures and specimens, and ensure room turnover and instrument returns are completed efficiently. A formal surgical program and certification enhance candidacy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Accred Surgical Program preferred.
• Surgical Technician certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room for surgical patient, reviews preference cards to determine surgeon needs, obtains the necessary supplies and equipment for the procedure, ensures cleanliness of room, and assists with opening sterile supplies.
• Performs surgical scrub duties, and assists with the collection, identification, and disposition of cultures and specimens.
• Assists in turning over of room, and ensures supplies, instruments, and equipment are returned to proper location.
