PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon. The role supports the surgical team by preparing and maintaining the sterile field and assisting with patient preparation in a fast-paced OR environment.

The position offers full-time hours (four 10-hour evening shifts) with a wage range of $41.67–$58.31 per hour, a $2.50 evening shift differential, and opportunities for annual bonuses, relocation assistance,

Qualifications

• Completion of surgical technologist program and CST certification required.
• Military Surgical Technologist Training Program acceptable with ongoing CE requirements (16 hours every two years).
• Basic Life Support certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Arrange and inventory sterile setup for operations; pass items to the surgical team.
• Maintain sterile field and aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Assist in patient preparation and movement as needed.
• Clean, disinfect and sterilize instrumentation; assist with room turnover.
• Access computer information such as preference lists and digital images.
• Participate in SCIP/SCOAP quality initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at Sacred heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon.

• Role: Full-time Surgical Technologist
• Schedule: 1.0 FTE working four 10-hour evening shifts each week, 0845-1915
• Unit: 26 OR suites with 22 Main ORs, 2 CVORs, 2 Hybrid
• Special Features: Robotics,Da Vinci Robots IV and 5
• Hospital: PeaceHealthSacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a 350 bed hospital, level II trauma center

Location: Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a beautiful hospital situated along the Mckenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. Located an hour from the Pacific Ocean and 2 hours South of Portland, Oregon, Springfield and its sister city Eugene are adventure-driven destinations. Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

Essential Functions

• Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team
• Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
• Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
• Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
• Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
• Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Completion of an educational program for surgical technologists accredited by a national accreditation organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority AND hold a current surgical technologist certification issued by a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists.

In lieu of above, may consider:

• Completion of a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and must have completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years or CST.

Experience

• Preferred: 1 year experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room
• Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs

Credentials

• Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support Certification (healthcare provider)

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
• Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
• Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
