Job summary

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, OR is hiring a Surgical Support Aide for the Operating Room. This full-time evening-shift role supports surgeons, nurses and technologists, helping keep surgeries safe, organized, and on schedule.

You will gather instruments, prep rooms, stock supplies, assist with patient transport and positioning, and ensure a clean, well‑prepared OR. Oregon CNA certification and BLS are required at hire, with six months of patient care

Qualifications

  • CNA certification and BLS certification required at hire.
  • At least 6 months of patient care experience.
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care across lifespan.

Responsibilities

  • Gather instruments and supplies for procedures.
  • Prepare operating rooms before surgeries begin.
  • Stock and restock supplies in the department and ORs.
  • Clean and disinfect equipment per procedures.
  • Assist with OR cleanup and turnover between cases.
  • Help transport patients through the surgical process.
  • Assist with moving and positioning patients.
  • Deliver specimens to designated departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized OR environment.
  • Support the surgical team with additional duties as needed.

Full Time | 1.00 FTE | Evening Shift (1100-2130)
Pay Range: $22.35 - $33.16 per hour

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll help create a safe, organized, and efficient environment for patients and surgical teams.

  • Gather instruments, equipment, and supplies needed for scheduled procedures.
  • Prepare operating rooms before surgeries begin.
  • Stock and restock supplies throughout the department and in individual operating rooms.
  • Clean, disinfect, and process equipment according to established procedures.
  • Assist with operating room cleanup and turnover between cases so patients can be cared for without delay.
  • Help transport patients safely throughout the surgical process.
  • Assist caregivers with moving and positioning patients.
  • Deliver specimens to designated departments quickly and accurately.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared surgical environment.
  • Support the surgical team with additional duties as needed.
What You'll Bring
Required
  • Oregon Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire, issued through either American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Six months of patient care experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to provide age-appropriate care for patients across the lifespan.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a team.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
Preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience using sterile or aseptic techniques.
  • Understanding of operating room workflows and practices.
  • Medical Assistant certification.
