Job summary

PeaceHealth in Sedro-Woolley, WA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team at United General Medical Center. You will help maintain the sterile field and assist the surgical team during procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.

This 1.0 FTE, day-shift role offers four 10-hour shifts weekly (0630–1700) with no weekends, nights, or on-call requirements, plus relocation assistance, a signing bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Accredited Program of Surgical Technology or recognized course of training.
• Required: Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration by date of hire
• Required: Healthcare Provider BLS Certification
• Preferred: 1-year Surgical Technology work experience in a full-service OR
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items to the surgical team.
• Maintain sterile field and asepsis throughout procedures.
• Assist in preparation and movement of patients.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instrumentation; assist with room turnover.
• Access patient data and imaging as needed; participate in safety initiatives.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

Essential Functions

• Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
• Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
• Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
• Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
• Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
• Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Accredited Program of Surgical Technology or recognized course of training in surgical technology.
• Required: A Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration required by date of hire
• Required: Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification
• Preferred: 1-year Surgical Technology work experience in a full-service OR
• Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
• Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
• Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
