Job Description
In this full‑time, evening‑shift position (1.00 FTE), you’ll join a highly skilled, mission‑driven team committed to quality, collaboration, and respect. This role is represented by a collective bargaining agreement, and multiple openings may be available. Compensation: $23.47 – $34.82 per hour. Hiring rate is based on education, experience, training, certification, and collective bargaining factors.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
- Re‑stocking inventory.
- Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
- Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
- Clean and maintain department equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent
Experience
- A minimum of three (3) months’ experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required or three (3) month’s experience as a Veterinary Technician, Dental Technician, Surgical Support Aide, or other medical related technician role whose responsibilities included cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation.
- Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course and/or six months experience as a Sterile Process Technician
Credentials
- Required: within 1 Year Natl Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification from IAHCSMM as a Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST), or certification from CBSPD as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech (CSPDT) or other nationally recognized certifying body.
- Required: within 1 Year CER Certified Endoscope Reprocessor if working in PHMG.
Skills
- Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
- Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.
- Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.
- Reaching frequently.
- Squat/kneel occasionally.
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
Mental/Visual
- Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
