Job summary

Carle Health is hiring a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care. The role involves assisting surgeons, preparing sterile fields, training staff and students, and acting as a lead technologist when needed.

The position requires an Associate’s degree or certificate in Surgical Technology and BLS certification within 30 days. New grads are welcome and relocation assistance is available.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days (AHA).
• Associate degree or certificate in Surgical Technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub before patient entry; organize back table and mayo.
• Anticipate case needs and maintain appropriate supplies; execute efficient setup and turnover.
• Collaborate with surgeon and mentor staff; precept surgical techs and RNs.
• Scrub on simple to complex procedures; run mayo independently; adapt to surgeon preferences.
• Plan for intraoperative events and respond calmly to changes; protect patient privacy.
