Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician to support pre-, intra-, and post-procedure activities. You will help with OR setup, instrument handling, sterile field maintenance, and equipment maintenance, under RN direction.

The role requires technical certification and may offer a sign-on bonus up to $15,000. Eligible applicants may work 36 or 40 hours per week in a hospital setting emphasizing team-based care.

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate in accredited Surgical Technician program.
• CST certification NBSTSA upon hire preferred; less than 1 year experience ok.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the Operating Room for procedures, organizing equipment and instruments.
• Assists surgeon as first or second scrub person, maintaining a sterile field.
• Assists circulating nurse with instrument accounting.
• Operates OR machinery and sterilization equipment per guidelines.
• Receives and verifies implants for procedures (grafts, hardware, etc.).
• Supports on-the-job training and orientation of new staff and students.
• Transports patients to the OR when needed.
• Maintains inventory control and clerical duties for the department.
