Job summary

Research Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to join our operating room team in Kansas City, MO. You will assist in surgeries, prepare the sterile field, and collaborate with surgeons and staff to ensure optimal patient care.

The role requires CST or equivalent OR tech training, BLS, and ability to scrub in across multiple specialties. Excellent teamwork and patient safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be CST certified or eligible and have OR tech training.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• Competent in first scrub across multiple specialty areas (Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, Vascular).

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain the surgical suite with instruments and equipment.
• Assist during operations and work with the team to ensure safe, efficient procedures.
• Scrub in, pass instruments, and handle specimens as needed by the surgeon.
• Monitor patients and equipment during procedures and respond to concerns promptly.
• Maintain sterile technique and support turnover between cases.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Shift: Wednesday 7p-7a, Friday 11a-11p, Saturday 7p-7a

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting up and maintaining the surgical suite with instruments, supplies, and advanced equipment to ensure safe, seamless procedures

• Assisting with patient transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while prioritizing comfort, privacy, and safety

• Scrubbing in and partnering with the surgical team by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating the team’s needs

• Monitoring patients and surgical equipment throughout procedures, responding promptly and effectively to any concerns

• Upholding sterile technique, completing room turnover efficiently, and supporting a high-performing, collaborative team environment

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT)

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire.

• In addition to meeting the requirements of an OR Tech I position, must also be competent to perform as first scrub in three of the four following specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine and Vascular Surgery.
