Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a per diem Surgical Technologist to join the surgical team. The role supports intra-operative patient care and collaborates with the Circulating Nurse to prepare for procedures and maintain the sterile field.

The Surgical Technologist 1 will pass instruments, anticipate needs, assist with instrument counts, and participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives. On-call shifts may be required, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program.
• Certification preferred; must obtain certification within one year of hire.
• Experience: New graduate ST to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist Circulating nurse to set up for procedures with instruments and supplies.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon at the sterile field.
• Anticipate team needs and provide instruments and supplies accordingly.
• Maintain sterile field and asepsis according to guidelines.
• Contribute to sponge, sharps, and instrument counts and safety checks.
• Participate in quality improvement and department safety initiatives.
• Take on-call assignments for specified nights, weekends, and holidays.
