Job summary

Aurora West Allis Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. The role involves passing instruments to surgeons, assisting with gowning and gloving, preparing and draping the surgical area, and maintaining a sterile field.

You may function as a First or Second Assistant as needed. You will rotate weeknights, weekends and holidays as part of a 40-hour schedule, with 8-hour shifts from 10:30 to 19:00.

Qualifications

• What you will do: pass instruments to surgeons, maintain sterile field and assist with gowning/gloving.
• Support various procedures and act as First/Second Assistant as needed.
• Rotate through weeknights, weekends and holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Pass instruments to surgeons during operations.
• Assist with gowning and gloving; prepare and drape the surgical area; maintain sterile field.
• Perform procedures and maintain knowledge of a variety of surgical tasks.
• Function as First/Second Assistant; hold retractors, cauterize, wound closure under surgeon guidance.
• Transport patients and equipment; manage supplies and sterile items.
• Serve as a resource and mentor Surgical Technologists I; participate in committees or teams.
