Job summary

Aurora West Allis Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to join a team of surgical experts in Wisconsin. You will pass instruments to surgeons, assist with gowning, draping, and sterile field setup, and serve as a First or Second Assistant as needed under the surgeon's guidance.

You will transport patients and equipment, maintain specialty carts, ensure equipment sterility, and participate in committees or team projects.

• Perform procedures and maintain knowledge of a variety of procedures.
• Act as First or Second Assistant as necessary (holding retractors, cauterizing, wound closure under surgeon guidance).
• Transport patients and/or equipment and supplies.
• Maintain specialty cart/equipment, ensure sterility, and coordinate repairs for damaged items.

In this role you will be able to:

• Pass instruments to some of the top Surgeons in the world.
• Assist with gowning and gloving; preparation and draping of the surgical area, and provision of a sterile field.
• Perform all types of procedures and maintains advanced knowledge of a variety of procedures.
• Function as a First or Second Assistant as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, holding retractors, cauterizing, application of surgical dressings and wound closure under the direct guidance of a surgeon.
• Transport patients and/or equipment and supplies.
• Maintain a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability. This includes checking the working condition of equipment, sterility, and sending damaged items out for repair.
• Act as a resource and precepts Surgical Technologists I and/or participates in department or facility committees or work teams.
