Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in preparing the operating room, positioning patients, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures. The role requires completion of an accredited CST program and certification within 6 months of hire, with CPR within 60 days.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Education and Certification: Accredited Surgical Technologist program completion and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire.
• CPR - American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Uses proper aseptic techniques and follows policy for medication and specimen handling.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients for surgery.
• Adapts to surgeon preference and patient care variables, and updates surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument count.
• Promotes cost-effective and efficient environment for patient care by utilizing resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
