Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in setting up the operating room, passing instruments, and supporting the surgical team before, during, and after procedures. You will follow aseptic technique, perform counts, help with patient positioning, and adapt to surgeon preferences while protecting patient privacy and complying with HIPAA and related policies.

Minimum education includes a college or technical school certificate; preferred experience is 1–3 years.

Qualifications

Minimum education: certificate from a college or technical school (1 year) or 3–6 months related experience.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may apply.
Preferred: 1–3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
Utilizes aseptic techniques and follows standard precautions; handles medications and specimens per policy.
Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause for accuracy.
Adapts to surgeon preferences and patient care variables; updates surgeon preference materials as needed.
Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
Cares for resources to promote cost-effective and efficient patient care environment.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
