Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to support operative procedures from setup through final counts, ensuring aseptic practices and patient safety. The role requires adapting to surgeon preferences and operating room workflows while maintaining cost-efficient care environments.

The technician performs instrument counts and assists with patient positioning, while following rigorous policies for medications and specimen handling.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from a college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training.
• Preferred: 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Uses aseptic techniques and follows handling policies for medications and specimens.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to ensure correct patient and site.
• Understands and adapts to surgeon preferences and patient care variables, helps update surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Cares for and utilizes resources to promote cost-effective, efficient patient environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
