BayCare in Tampa is seeking a Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA) to support the surgeon during procedures, assist with positioning, prepping, draping, retraction, equipment selection and wound closure.

The role requires 3+ years as a Surgical Tech, 1 year as a Surgical First Assistant, HS or equivalent, and CSFA certification; BLS from AHA/ARC. Full-time, on-site with on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• HS or equivalent required and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate.
• CSFA certification and BLS required (AHA/ARC).
• At least 3 years as a Surgical Tech and 1 year as a Surgical First Assistant.

Responsabilités

• Assist the surgeon during procedures and in the OR.
• Position, prep, and drape patients; retract tissues for visualization.
• Assist with equipment selection, incisions, hemostasis, and closures.

Description

Position Description:Surgical Technologist First Assistant

• Responsible for assisting the surgeon during surgery and plays a vital role in the operating room during surgeries. Communicates the surgeon’s preferences and specific patient needs to surgical team. Assists in positioning, prepping and draping of patients for surgical procedures. Provides retraction of tissues and organs for optimal visualization with regard to the surgical site. Assists with selecting equipment, holding incisions open, controlling bleeding, closing incisions and performing other technical duties.

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:30am - 7:00pm

On Call: Yes

Requirements:

• Required Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as a Surgical Tech and 1-year Surgical First Assistant experience.
• Required Education: High School or Equivalent and Surgical Technology First Assist Certificate
• Required License/Certification: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross and Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) Certification.
