Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Frisco, TX is seeking a Surgical Technologist 2 to assist in the operating room under RN supervision. The role requires preparing and assisting with sterile technique, instrument handling, and maintaining OR readiness.

Preferred candidates have at least 2 years of OR experience with specialty services such as Orthopedics, robotics, and neuro. The position includes day shifts, weekend work (Sat/Sun) and one additional weekday with on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited surgical technology program.
• Less than 1 year of experience preferred.
• BLS certification and CST certification required; NBSTSA certification maintained.

Responsibilities

• Discuss special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub in on time.
• Prepare operative site by aseptically cleaning and clipping patient as needed.
• Organize instrument table and maintain correct instrument counts to prevent errors.
• Identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies promptly.
• Set up OR per procedure and arrange sterile supplies and equipment.
• Ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments according to policy.
• Assist with draping, positioning, and passage of sterile supplies to surgeons.
• Receive specimens, transfer to appropriate area, and assist with post-case dressings.
• Disassemble instruments and decontaminate for transport; maintain inventory and records.
